One of the problems with having a successful industrial estate is that it becomes a target for thieves. The introduction of a technology capable of offering proactive protection for this key area was the original motivation to invest in ANPR. However, only one year into the BID it became clear that the reducing cost of ANPR and the availability of funds from other resources would combine to make it possible to extend the ANPR network.
