Royston First runs a series of “children’s trails” designed to refresh residents’ knowledge of the town centre offer in a way that is relaxed and entertaining.
Saturday before Easter Sunday
The Easter trail runs once a year and involves children finding chocolate rabbits in town shop windows. The “free fun” that is sponsored by Royston First is always very popular, particularly the prize giving of a very large egg!
First Saturday in July
This day of music themed fun is held once a year. A “musical trail” is set up around Royston with the children looking for musical instruments placed in shop windows. There are also different craft activities that run alongside the trail. All activities are free to children and there are prizes given out to each child.
First Saturday in October
Each year Royston is ‘overrun’ with small pirate captains and first mates as they scavenge on the town’s treasure trail looking for bags of gold. With Pete the Pirate meet and greet, face painting and many craft activities, the event is not to be missed!
First Saturday in December
Rudolph is always up to his old tricks, hiding Christmas characters in selected shop windows in this one day event held every year in the festive period. Children excitedly follow the trail to find the numbered toys and complete their forms to receive a gift from Santa.
